ABOUT:

POMAR is a mobile app for Portuguese consumers and local producers. Its goal is to connect the modern consumer - who is concerned with their health and the environment - with local producers. Through an easy and user-friendly way, POMAR provides a reliable source of information and enhances the visibility of local communities.

CONTEXT:

The amount of pesticides found in food has become a huge problem for the health of the population. With over 97% of the food in European Union containing pesticides, it has led to people getting ill or even dying from contamination. Nowadays, the need of finding pesticide-free food is growing, even more each day, and the quality and safety have proven to be more important, for the consumers, than the price. However, the lack of information about reliable sources where to buy food is still one of the biggest obstacles for them.

CHALLENGES:

• >   Ensuring that all the producers registered in the APP, in fact, don't use pesticides.
• >   Building a safe community for those who seek reliable information.
• >   Building a friendly, simple and intuitive user experience.

SOLUTION:

• >   POMAR allows its users to find and engage with producers, and discover healthier local products.
• >   On the producers’ page is shown all the needed information about their products and production methods.
• >   The APP Admin is a person responsible for reviewing user’s comments and block those who don’t follow the rules, or producers with a high number of reports.
